On this gorgeous winter day with temperatures in the 60's I headed down to Long Beach, one of my favorite beaches on the south shore of Long Island. I figured we were not going to get many more of these beautiful days. I wanted to capture the strong undertow and the winter waves coming in and pounding the surf. When I got to Long Beach I was not disappointed as the waves were tremendous and even though it was a mild day out the wind gusts were very powerful. I was moving from one jetty to another getting various action shots of the waves climbing on top of each other and then curling and crashing onto the surf. In this image I found a bunch of seagulls resting on this jetty and what seemed to be totally oblivious to the large wall of water that was building and getting ready to curl and come crashing down on the surf and then run up on the jetty and beach. I waited and as you can see in this image I was able to capture the jetty with the seagulls almost watching this large wall of waves forming with the white water a top and getting sprayed from the wind gusts. This was one of my favorite photos of the day.
