Last winter right after a large snow storm had hit Long Island I decided to take a ride where I knew there was usually a lot of ducks, geese and mallards flying around and see what shots I could get. The weather was beginning to get a little warmer as I drove over to this park which had various ponds that all filtered out into the Long Island Sound. Just I parked my car I heard a lot of noise and could see nobody else around so I climbed over the hill with my camera already to go and just as I hit the top of the hill this mallard came flying towards me, I was to his left so I positioned my camera and was able to capture him in full flight with his wings completely spread apart. I was so happy the way this first shot turned out I continued to take more photos of geese, ducks and other mallards but this action shot was my favorite for the day
