On a gorgeous unusually mild January day I decided to take advantage of these great weather conditions and head down to one of my favorite beaches on Long Island, Long Beach located on the south shore of Long Island. I was hoping that the waves would be crashing and hitting the surf for some great action photos. Even though the temperatures were in the 60's there was a strong wind gust plus the night before we had experienced a very powerful rain storm. I thought these conditions would make for some great action shots of the waves coming in with the storm just heading out to sea and the wind blowing powerfully. When I arrived at Long Beach, I went right down to the first jetty I saw and timed it perfectly as the tide was coming in meaning the waves were increasing in strength and size. In this image I stood behind this jetty with the seagulls on it and captured several rows of curls and waves climbing on top of each other. In addition, with the strong wind gusts the white caps at the top of the waves were being swept off of the waves and out to sea.
